Since 1866, when the first eight Sisters of St. Joseph arrived in St. Augustine from the Motherhouse in Le Puy, France, we have been performing works of mercy in the state of Florida for the dear neighbor. In the mid-17th century, our founder, Jean-Pierre Medaille, SJ encouraged the original six Sisters of St. Joseph to do "whatever is possible for women to do." For over 355 years we Sisters have been doing just that. Today we continue that work
in six of the seven dioceses of Florida.
In the near future, we will provide a listing of today’s Sisters, organized by diocese, which will indicate the ministries in which they are currently serving the dear neighbor. In the meantime, if you are interesting in finding a particular Sister, please contact the motherhouse in St. Augustine, 904 829-3735.
